Westminster College Celebrity Series
“Bringing the Best in the World of Entertainment to the Campus and the Community” The Westminster College Celebrity Series started as part of an Artist-Lecture series and has developed over the years into its present format and identity. Many great performers have graced the stage of Orr Auditorium since the inception of the program in 1967. In 2017 they celebrated Celebrity Series 50th Anniversary for the 2017-2018 season!
Orr Auditorium, a proscenium theatre/recital hall opened in 1962, is the only facility of its kind on campus. It is a multi-purpose space that is heavily booked by a variety of users throughout the college’s academic year. Within the limits of its size and equipment, the 1,728-seat hall is suitable for recitals, concerts, plays, lectures, conferences, films and commencement or award ceremonies. Orr Auditorium is an extension of the college’s Music Department, home to the Westminster College Celebrity Series and utilized by many of the college’s departments.
Artists to grace Orr’s stage throughout the years have been The Temptations, Marvin Hamlish, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Tony Bennett, Ben Vereen, Paul Anka, The Ten Tenors, Wayne Newton, LeAnn Rimes, Chris Botti and many more.
